GymIQ - Privacy Policy

Welcome to GymIQ, provided by Aegis Active, a developer under 5811Code Development Group ("we," "us," or "our").

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how GymIQ ("App") handles your information. The App is designed for casual fitness enthusiasts, athletes, and personal trainers to track their workouts and fitness progress.

A core principle of GymIQ is user control over data. Your operational data is primarily stored locally on your device. If you choose to use features like Google Sign-In or Google Drive backup, your data will also be stored by Google under your account, as explained below. The developer (Aegis Active/5811Code Development Group) does not collect or store your personal fitness data on our servers.

1. Information Processed by the App

GymIQ processes information to enable its functionality. This occurs locally on your device or through Google services you authorize:

Information You Provide Directly into the App (Stored Locally):

  • Workout Data: Exercise names, workout routines, sets, reps, weight used, duration, and related notes.
  • Personal Information: Personal measurements (such as weight, height), photos (e.g., progress pictures, profile images), meal logs, water intake, and general notes related to your fitness journey.
  • Gym Membership Information: Details about your gym membership if you choose to store them.

Information Accessed via Google Sign-In (Managed by Google):

  • If you choose to use Google Sign-In, we will receive basic profile information from Google to authenticate your account, such as your name and email address. This is used solely for authentication and to identify you within the App if you use features like Google Drive backup.

Information Handled via Google Drive Backup (Managed by Google, Initiated by You):

  • If you choose to back up your GymIQ data to your Google Drive, the App will create a backup file containing your workout data, personal information, and settings. This file is stored in your personal Google Drive account, under your control. The developer does not have access to this backup file unless you explicitly share it. Restoration of data also occurs from your Google Drive at your initiation.

Information Potentially Accessed via Health Platforms (With Your Explicit Permission, Stored Locally or by the Health Platform):

  • In the future, GymIQ may offer integration with third-party health platforms (e.g., Apple Health, Google Fit). Should you choose to enable such an integration, the App will request your explicit permission to access specific data (e.g., step count, heart rate, workout data already logged in those platforms) to enhance your GymIQ experience or to write workout data from GymIQ to those platforms.
  • Any data accessed from or shared with these platforms will be subject to your permissions and the privacy policies of those respective platforms. Data retrieved may be stored locally on your device.

Information Generated Through App Usage (Locally Stored):

  • Fitness Analytics: Workout summaries, progress charts, calorie burn estimates, fitness level assessments, and suggested routines based on your input and goals.

App Settings & Preferences (Locally Stored):

  • Settings such as theme preference, notification settings, and other customizable options.

Diagnostic Data (Standard Platform Collection - Not Linked to Your Operational Data):

  • We may receive anonymized crash reports and basic aggregated usage analytics provided through standard App Store Connect (for iOS) or Google Play Console (for Android) services. This helps us identify bugs and improve the App. This data is collected by Apple/Google and is not linked to your personal fitness data.

2. How Your Information is Used

Your information is used for the following purposes:

  • To Provide App Functionality: To operate and maintain GymIQ's features, including tracking workouts, managing your fitness data, generating summaries and charts, and storing your gym membership information. All primarily on your local device.
  • For Google Sign-In: To authenticate your account if you choose this sign-in method.
  • For Google Drive Backup/Restore: To allow you to back up your data to your Google Drive and restore it, at your discretion.
  • For Potential Health Platform Integration: If you opt-in to future integrations, to read or write data to/from health platforms to provide a more comprehensive view of your fitness.
  • To Improve the App: Anonymized diagnostic data helps us understand how the App is performing and where improvements can be made.

We, the developers, do not access, use for other purposes, or sell the personal fitness data you enter into GymIQ that is stored locally on your device or in your personal Google Drive.

3. Google Integration

Google Sign-In: If you choose to sign in with Google, you will be authenticated by Google. We will receive a token from Google to confirm your identity. GymIQ's use of information received from Google Sign-In will be limited to authentication and associating your data with your account for features like Google Drive backup.

Google Drive Backup: If you enable this feature, GymIQ will request permission to access its own app data folder within your Google Drive to store and retrieve backup files. These files are under your control in your Google Drive. We do not access these files for any other purpose.

Our App's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

4. Potential Health Platform Integration

GymIQ may in the future offer the ability to connect with third-party health and fitness platforms (e.g., Apple Health, Google Fit). If you choose to enable these integrations:

  • You will be asked for explicit permission before GymIQ accesses any data from, or writes any data to, these platforms.
  • The specific data to be accessed or shared will be clearly communicated at the time of permission request.
  • Your use of such integrations will also be governed by the privacy policies of the respective health platforms.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your operational data is primarily stored locally on your device within the App's secure storage area. You are responsible for securing your device.

If you use the Google Drive backup feature, your data is also stored in your personal Google Drive account, subject to Google's security practices and your Google account settings.

The developer (Aegis Active/5811Code Development Group) does not store your personal fitness data on its servers and does not have access to the data stored locally on your device or in your Google Drive backups unless you explicitly provide it (e.g., for support purposes, with your consent).

6. Data Sharing

We do not share your personal fitness data stored locally or in your Google Drive, except in the following circumstances:

  • User-Initiated Sharing/Export: When you use features within GymIQ to export your data (e.g., as a CSV file or other formats), you control where that exported data is sent or saved via your device's standard sharing or file saving mechanisms.
  • With Google Services (As Directed by You): When you use Google Sign-In or Google Drive backup, data is exchanged with Google as necessary to provide these services, under your Google account.
  • With Potential Health Platforms (As Directed by You): If you enable future integrations with health platforms, data will be shared with those platforms based on your explicit permissions.
  • Anonymized Diagnostic Data: Standard, anonymized diagnostic data (crash reports, aggregated usage analytics) may be collected by Apple (for iOS) or Google (for Android) and made available to us to help improve the App. This data is not linked to your personal fitness data.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, we may be compelled to disclose information if it is within our possession (which is typically limited to account information if any, not your fitness data itself). Any demand for user data stored on a user's device or in their personal cloud storage would typically be directed to the user or the cloud service provider.

7. Permissions Requested

GymIQ requests the following permissions only when needed for specific features, and usage is limited to those features:

  • Photo Library Access: To allow you to select photos for your profile, progress tracking, or to attach to notes. Data is processed locally.
  • Files Access: To allow you to save exported data (e.g., workout logs) to your device storage or cloud storage locations you choose.
  • Bluetooth: Potentially, to connect with compatible fitness trackers, heart rate monitors, or other fitness-related peripherals. This would be an optional feature requiring your explicit activation.
  • Notifications: To send you reminders for workouts, alerts for completed goals, or other relevant App-related updates, if you enable them.
  • Sensors (e.g., Motion & Fitness Activity): Potentially, to automatically track certain activities or gather sensor data from connected peripherals (like heart rate from a Bluetooth device) to enhance workout tracking. This would require your explicit permission and activation.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Data stored locally on your device remains there until you manually delete it using App features (e.g., deleting individual entries, clearing logs) or until the App is uninstalled from your device. Uninstalling the App will typically remove its locally stored data.

Data backed up to your Google Drive is subject to your Google Drive retention policies and can be managed or deleted by you directly within your Google Drive account.

The developer retains no copy of your personal fitness data.

9. Children's Privacy

GymIQ is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's functionality, our practices, or legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes (e.g., through an in-app notification or by updating the policy on our website or app store listing).

Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Privacy Policy.
